  • Added default GNOME favorite applications.

  • Added dconf update execution through the package postinst script.

Changed
  • Moved GNOME desktop defaults from user-specific configuration into a reusable system-wide package.

  • Changed Dash to Panel configuration from manually configured user settings to reproducible dconf defaults.

  • Standardized Dash to Panel dynamic length using:

    CMN-0x00000000 = -1

    PHL-0x01010101 = 96

  • Standardized the Dash to Panel border radius to:

    global-border-radius = 4

  • Enabled system-wide GNOME Shell extension defaults while keeping disable-user-extensions=false.

Fixed

  • Fixed malformed dconf entries that prevented sudo dconf update from completing.

  • Fixed incorrect panel-lenghts spelling from previous configuration.

  • Corrected invalid wallpaper URI syntax.

  • Corrected invalid disable-user-extensions dconf value.

  • Restored proper panel-lengths configuration after it disappeared from the user-level dump.

  • Verified that Dash to Panel exposes the expected panel-lengths key in the installed extension schema.

  • Verified that User Themes and Dash to Panel are recognized as ACTIVE by GNOME Shell.

Packaging
  • Created Debian package:

    titalcruise-gnome-defaults

    Version: 1.0.0 / 1.0.1 / 1.0.1 / 1.0.3 depending on the final package revision.

    Architecture: all

    Dependency:

    dconf-gsettings-backend

  • Added Debian postinst script to update the dconf database after installation.

  • Verified package metadata with dpkg-deb -e.

  • Verified package contents with dpkg-deb -c.

  • Package contains:

    /etc/dconf/db/local.d/00-titalcruise-gnome

Testing
  • Tested creation of a new GNOME user.

  • Confirmed that system-wide visual defaults are inherited by new users.

  • Confirmed that Dash to Panel configuration can be applied through dconf.

  • Confirmed installed extensions are available and recognized by GNOME Shell.

  • Confirmed User Themes reports:

    Activado: Sí

    Estado: ACTIVE

  • Confirmed Dash to Panel reports:

    Activado: Sí

Planned / Experimental
  • Calamares

  • Integrate titalcruise-gnome-defaults into the TitalcruiseOS installation workflow.

  • Determine whether the package should be installed through packages.conf or another Calamares stage.

  • Configure GDM automatic login if desired.

  • Determine the safest method for removing the temporary Live-session user during installation.

  • Test automatic creation of the final titalcruise user.

  • Test automatic cleanup of installer/Live users.

  • Verify behavior in a clean VM before inclusion in the ISO.

Future package maintenance
  • Separate GNOME defaults from Calamares-specific configuration.

  • Add package versioning and changelog management.

  • Test compatibility with previous TitalcruiseOS generations.

  • Test installation on a completely clean Debian/TitalcruiseOS environment.

  • Verify behavior when individual GNOME Shell extensions are unavailable.

  • Add proper package dependency relationships for the required themes, icons, fonts, wallpapers and extensions.The GNOME desktop configuration has been separated into an independent Debian package, allowing TitalcruiseOS to reproduce its customized GNOME environment consistently across newly installed user accounts and installations.
